LADY OF THE NIGHT

This song has a little story behind it.

I used to play this club in Vancouver, British Columbia back in the 80's. It was called "Richard's on Richards". We called it "Dick's on Dicks". They used to put us up at Chateau Granville on Granville St. Granville St. is a very hipp street in Vancouver. It has cool clothing stores, bars, liquor stores, and strip joints. Put musicians up on this street, what a shocker. When we went to work at night, we had to walk one block down and one block across to the club. Every night we had to walk passed about thirty hookers. "Wanna date?", "wanns date?", about ten times every night. I really felt bad for these girls and that is where this song came from. I wrote this on the road in 1989 and recorded it at Masterworks in 1990. Sounds like the eighties.
